DIY Shampoo

We like to at least give a whirl anything we can create at home. And even more, we like to know what we're eating, drinking and well, putting on our skin and in our hair.

Having a small, very over-priced (what isn't in St. Andrews?) health food store in town is not friendly on the pocketbooks of poor (but not starving!) students, so we're left to be somewhat creative.

(We're not allowed to have a McDonald's here, but I wonder how they'd feel about a Whole Foods?)

Next week I'm trying my hand at homemade shampoo.

This recipe may be a total flop for us, but it looks simple enough that I might even be able to whip it together with a baby on my hip (and maybe another one on my back?). I'll let you know about that. . .

We'll be back to share how we end up liking it, and if you know of a different, possibly better recipe, do share!

at East Sands

Its been absolutely beautiful here, and we've found ourselves falling in love with Scotland's weather. Yes, I just said that.

We love winds so high the Tay Bridge shuts down, we love grey skies. We love scattered showers. We love breezy days with blinding sun.

We love sweaters and sandals, Wellies and t-shirts.

We just plain love Scotland.
.
55 and sunny- we met Peter after his tutorials for an afternoon on the beach.

He's perfect, he's beautiful...

...I'm already in love, and I haven't even met him.

Darling little Ralph Franklin Wells II ("Ralphie"). Over 4 weeks early, but healthy as could be. 6 pounds and 6 ounces of pure adorableness. I can't even handle it.

She's busy kissing his tiny self and breathing that lovely baby smell that fades way too fast, but check back to his mama's blog later for an update.

Yippee yay yay

...my sister's having her baby today!

Yellow Coconut Cake

Next time I have an excuse to bake something sweet, this is it.

It's a moist, dense, so-healthy-I-may-have-the-leftovers-for-breakfast yellow coconut cake.

If your excuse arises before mine, would you please leave a comment with your thoughts on the recipe? (Maybe I don't even need an excuse...?)

There you have it. My greatest food weakness-- cakes.
